N***a I Know James

Hey y'all.....what's the deal? How's everything? You good? How's your holidays shapin' up? Dope! That's great to hear!
This is tREBLEFREE – 1/13 of the crew known in the Earth realm as OMNiVerse.
I asked Lunch to let me write this update to y'all because I had something special to share with all of you. I'm a wordy dude (aka I talk a LOT), so let me get the story out and it'll all make sense in the end.
Picture it.....Detroit....2000...nah I'm playin'.....
Around 2005 while I was gathering tracks and finishing work on my debut LP, "The Return Of The Dirty Cymbals", I came up with this beat that chopped up The JB's version of "Watermelon Man". At 110 BPMs, It was one of the fastest beats I had made.
I wanted DVS to attempt a flow at it, because at the time, he had just knocked me on my ass with what he did to the beat that became "Limelight" (also from "The Return Of The Dirty Cymbals").
After DVS heard it, he said to me, "Yeah, I can definitely do somethin' with that. I got an idea right now." As we continued discussing it, he mentioned, "I'm ready to do the 'Nigga I Know James EP'." Knowing DVS, this was his way of saying that he liked that beat enough to hear 35 more like it.
I laughed it off and kept the conversation moving, but that title just kept circling in my head.
So, after much deliberation in my own mind, I thought this would be a dope introduction of DVS and myself to the world at large. Both of our individual debut albums as artists are slated to come out in 2008, so I thought that this could serve as a taster to who we are and what we can do. I brought the idea back up to DVS and he wholeheartedly agreed to do it – and that brings us to the present.
All beats, interludes and musical tomfoolery were produced and arranged by me, tREBLEFREE (with various shades of funk from James Brown), and ferocious flows by the one and only DVS.
