T.R.O.Y

In the light of receiving word that I would have a new release to prepare for a podcast belonging to fellow brother and producer Earl Flynn he would also receive word just moments after getting off the phone with me that his uncle Louis Stafford had passed away from an heart attack. We at Omniversal Recordings send a warm embrace the family of Earl Flynn in this time of grieving. What follows is the poem Earl dedicated to his uncle. R.I.P
to make a long distance call but
the operator snarled at me
when I didn't know the
country, state, or city area code
and my friends-and-family cell phone
mocked me by writing
"out of calling area" on its screen.
I need
to send an important letter but
the post office clerk screamed "next"
when I didn't have
an address or zip code
and my new laptop
locked me out, sending a haughty
"you need an e-mail address" message.
I need
to hitch a ride on
Harry Potter's magical broom,
click my ruby slippers
three or even six times,
wiggle my nose
like Samantha the television witch,
tumble with Alice
through the hole into Wonderland,
creep beyond the wardrobe
into the lion's Narnia,
turn the key
that opens the secret garden
I need
to find a way
to reach my uncle.
I need
one more hug
or at least his assurance
that he's okay in death.
I need
to reach my uncle
so I can finally
rest in peace.
